Taxi drivers set to pull in pounds for charity

STAFF at Newtownabbey firm Abbey Taxis are getting ready for a gruelling fundraising challenge in aid of disability charity The Cedar Foundation.

On Friday (July 9) at 12.30pm, a group of drivers will set off from the Abbey Taxis depot in Whiteabbey village and pull one of their vehicles around the Shore Road area, past businesses and shops near to Loughshore Park.

Over the past few weeks the company has been asking its corporate clients and customers to sponsor their drivers, as well as putting collection tins in local shops.

Aaron Moore from Abbey Taxis commented: “We chose The Cedar Foundation because we often drive people to and from their centres and we have heard about all the great work they do. We hope that our customers and members of the public will support our efforts and give generously to help us raise money for Cedar’s work throughout Northern Ireland.”

Christine Tweedie, Cedar’s Fundraising Co-ordinator added: “We are looking forward to the taxi pull and thanks to Abbey Taxis for all their fundraising efforts so far. We would encourage people in the local area to come down on Friday to cheer on the drivers and support our cause.”

The Cedar Foundation - www.cedar-foundation.org - works in partnership with disabled people across Northern Ireland providing quality support, care, accommodation and training services to enable disabled adults and children to participate in all aspects of community life.
