Tea Party to promote Dementia Awareness

A LOCAL charity has invited Mid Ulster residents to ‘join the conversation on dementia’ during Dementia Awareness Week.

The Alzheimer’s Society in Armagh and Dungannon is encouraging people to get talking about the condition at a Tea Party on Tuesday, May 21 at 1pm in Ranfurly House Visitors Centre.

Refreshments, music and a Balloon Release will take place at 2:30pm.

This will be a fun afternoon for all ages so feel free to come along.

Martin McCrory for the Alzheimer’s Society said:

“As the population ages, we all face the risk of one day developing dementia. The more we know about the condition, the more prepared we’ll be to face it. This event is a great opportunity to find out more, talk to us, and join the conversation that everyone’s talking about.”

Alzheimer’s Society Armagh and Dungannon has a range of services which support people with dementia and their carers.

These include Carer Support Groups, Carer Information Programmes, One-to-One outreach support, telephone support, Dementia Cafes, and Awareness Raising talks.

Alzheimer’s Society is also hoping that local businesses and individuals will hold their own fundraising events during Dementia Awareness Week to raise valuable funds for people with dementia and their carers.
