Neil Giffin (35) shot to fame after he appeared on the award winning Channel Four series ‘Educating Yorkshire’.

The Humanities teacher was found guilty of 15 allegations made against him.

All of the girls targeted by Giffin were pupils, or ex-pupils of Bishops Herber High School in Cheshire, where he taught history, before moving in 2012 to Thornhill Community Academy in West Yorkshire, where the Channel Four programme was filmed.

An investigation was launched in January 2013 following an allegation that the local man was communicating in ‘an inappropriate way’ with a 17-year-old from his former school.

At that time Giffin was suspended from his role as Head of Humanities at Thornhill, however he resigned three months later.

At a National College for Teaching and Leadership hearing, a panel heard that Giffin had told one former pupil that he was jealous of her because ‘she looked good in tights’ and that he wanted to wear them.

The panel was also told how the teacher sent messages to three pupils at the Cheshire school on Facebook after moving to his new job, and that he hid his identity by using fake names.

Giffin sent messages discussing sexual fantasies, including imagining one female pupil in her school uniform and smoking a cigarette ‘on top of him’.

The panel found actions were “sexually motivated” and amounted to unacceptable professional conduct.

Giffin told investigators he regarded the messages as ‘silly conversations’ and that he had been drinking when he sent some of them, and that he used the fake accounts to ‘escape’ from stress and financial problems.
