Teaching project to benefit Larne

Two Larne schools are to benefit from a new initiative being rolled out by the Northern Ireland Executive to help 230 teachers who have been unable to find jobs get a two-year teaching post.

Larne High School and St Killian’s College are among 10 east Antrim schools included in the Delivering Social Change Signature Project.

The scheme will employ 230 new graduates to work with and help those children in schools who are falling behind in their numeracy and literacy skills.

East Antrim MP Sammy Wilson described the the project as “excellent”.

“This is an excellent project which I have been a proponent of,” he said.

“It will not only help those who have found it difficult to get a job but also those who children who are struggling in these essential subjects.

Once again, this is another example of the Executive identifying a problem and putting in place practical measures to deal with it.”
