Teen arrested in Portrush

Police arrested a seventeen year old following an operation aimed at tackling theft from cars in the Portrush area on Saturday evening.

Police arrested the teenager on suspicion of theft. He has been released on police bail since. Chief Inspector Mark McClarence has asked people not to leave valuables in view inside cars.

“Please always lock handbags, cameras, phones and other valuables in the boot or take them out of the car altogether. There are opportunist thieves out there. Even if you have just pulled up to head into a few shops or are parked at home, it’s never wise to leave valuables in view.

“Officers will be out and about in your area, carrying out proactive operations around local crime trends. However, you can help us by taking these really simple crime prevention steps.”
