Teen cut off electronic tag

A 19-year-old Portadown man cut off his electronic tag in frustration at his bail conditions, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Friday.

David James Power, from Keelmount Grange, admitted causing criminal damage to a bail tag belonging to G4S on August 8 this year.

He was fined £150 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard how police were tasked to the defendant’s home address by G4S.

Power admitted that he had cut off the tag in frustration at his bail conditions.

A solicitor representing the defendant said there had been no damage to the electronic part of the tag, just the strap which he had cut.

He added that the matter had been reported to G4S by the defendant’s mother.

There were ongoing problems in the defendant’s house, the court was informed.
