Teen hit by moped in Ballyclare park

Police have issued an appeal for information following a report of a teenager being knocked down by a motorcyclist in the Sixmilewater Park area of Ballyclare on Saturday, October 26.

A PSNI spokesperson confirmed that officers received a report that at approximately 10.15pm, a 17-year-old female was walking with her friend in the park when a light coloured, possibly silver, moped driven by an unknown male knocked her down.

The girl suffered a number of injuries to her face and legs and was taken to hospital where she was detained for treatment.

The moped rider, who failed to stop at the scene of the crash, is described as being of slim build, average height and less than 20 years old.

Police officers investigating the incident have asked witnesses to contact Constable Louise Cleland or Sergeant Trevor Aitcheson at Newtownabbey Station on 0845 600 8000.
