He is accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and of three further counts of assaulting police officers.

A detective constable told the court she believed she could connect the 17-year-old to the charges against him, adding that police were objecting to bail.

She described how officers were called to a fight between teenagers outside the shops, when the injured 15-year-old had to be taken to hospital for treatment.

He sustained a puncture wound to the chest and a slash wound to his left forearm.

Refusing bail, the judge remanded the 17-year-old youth into custody.
