Teenager arrested following burglary

POLICE investigating a burglary at a convenience store in Rathcoole last week arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with the crime.

A sweet machine and two Valentine’s gift packs were stolen from the shop at The Diamond at around 10.20pm on Wednesday, January 27.

Police officers subsequently arrested a 16-year-old male in nearby Carmeen Drive in relation to the burglary. He was charged to appear at Belfast Youth Court on Wednesday, February 3.

Meanwhile, last Tuesday (January 26) a householder in Thornhill Parade, Ballyclare returned home to find that his flat had been broken into. Sometime between 6pm and 8.30pm, thieves forced open the front door and entered the flat. A sum of cash and a Playstation games console were taken.

Investigating officers have appealed for anyone with information in relation to either of these incidents to call them at Newtownabbey Station on 0845 600 8000.
