Teenager attacked by masked men armed with wooden bats

Detectives investigating a serious assault in the Monkstown estate on Friday night (June 3) have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

An 18-year-old male was in the Abbeytown Square area at around 11pm when he was attacked by up to four masked males who assaulted him with wooden bats.

The teenager was taken to hospital for treatment to a number of injuries to his back, arms and legs.

Detective Constable Nick Johnston has appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with relevant information to contact detectives in Antrim on 101. Information can also be passed on anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
