Teenager rushed to hospital with burns after fire at NI house

A teenager has been taken to hospital with burns after blaze at a house in Co Armagh last night.

The emergency services attended the blaze in the Portadown area just after 7pm last night.

The NI Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to Ballyoran Manor, Portadown.

A spokesperson said: “Two Appliances from Portadown Fire Station and one Appliance from Lurgan Fire Station attended the incident.

He said there was one male casualty who suffered burns to his hands.

“Firefighters wore breathing apparatuses and used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

According to the NI Ambulance Service, they received a 999 call at 19.06.

A spokesperson said: “NIAS despatched one Emergency crew to the scene, one Rapid Response Paramedic and one Hazard Area Response Team Officer to the scene.

“Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was taken to the Craigavon Area Hospital by ambulance.”

Sinn Fein Cllr Paul Duffy praised the swift response of the emergency services.

“I am glad no one was seriously hurt. We all have to be careful at this difficult time.”
