Teenager who suddenly died in Dungannon this morning named as Daryl Comac

The teenage boy who died suddenly in Dungannon on Thursday has been named locally as Daryl Comac.

A fifth year pupil at St Patrick’s Academy, it is understood Daryl was found unconscious by a relative, before they called for an ambulance at around 8.10am.

A spokesperson for Northern Ireland Ambulance service said it was reported that a young male was unconscious and that a crew was dispatched, but nobody was taken to hospital.

Police also attended the scene, but said the death is not being treated as suspicious.

They believe a post mortem is due to take place tomorrow morning, Friday, December 11.

A Dungannon councillor said she was “devastated” to learn of Daryl’s sudden death.

SDLP councillor, Denise Mullen, said the young man played football with her own son at Killyman St Mary’s GFC.

“All day today groups of this young lad’s friends have been coming in to my coffee shop and they are just completely devastated,” she explained.

“My heart goes out to his family, particularly so close to Christmas, and I would like to extend my sympathy to them.

“The young lad played U16 football with my son in Killyman and there was a great unity among all the lads. It is just devastating.”
