Earlier in the day police received reports of youths throwing stones at the railway station and Northern Ireland Railways staff also reported that trains were being attacked in the station.

When police arrived a group of around eight young people made off. There were no reports of any injuries.

In another development, police have warned of the danger of walking close to railway lines.

A Ballymoney PSNI spokesman said they received a report from Northern Ireland Railways that a driver spotted two boys aged around 14 walking along the side of the line around midday on March 12.

The incident took place about a mile on the Ballymena side of Ballymoney.

“I can’t emphasize how potentially dangerous this could be and the potential there is for a fatality,” said the PSNI spokesman.
