The fun-filled family event is being held on Saturday, September 6, from 12 noon-4pm when the Centre staff and volunteers are hoping for a huge turnout of visitors once again as they try to raise lots of ‘pounds for hounds’. Admission is just £1 for adults whilst a donation of dog food will secure entrance for children, and four-legged friends go FREE. Once again there will be the ever popular Fun Dog Show (registration between 12noon-1pm), Doggy Dash, Doggy Games, a good variety of stalls, as well as refreshments including tea and coffee. There really will be something for everyone.

There will also be the opportunity to meet the dogs currently searching for new homes as the Rehoming Centre will be open throughout the afternoon until 4pm. With a plethora of homeless hounds there will no doubt be lots of waggy tails greeting the visitors and potential adopters.

Dogs Trust Ballymena Rehoming Centre Manager, Mary Carney says: “This is our 26th year and the support that we’ve received from the local community over the past 25 years has been amazing.

“From the thousands of families that have adopted dogs to those that have donated much need supplies and food, we are thankful to each and every person that helps make Dogs Trust Ballymena what it is. All of the funds raised on the day are invested back into the centre and help the team continue to care and rehome dogs of all shapes and sizes.”

She added: ”For those who are on the look-out for a new family member, there isn’t a more perfect opportunity to meet some of our residents who are keen to be given a new ‘leash’ on life.”

Owners who take their pet along to the Teeshan based Rehoming Centre’s Open Day are reminded to clean up after them during their visit and not to leave their dogs in parked cars.
