Ten Larne jobs saved but 8 people in Londonderry served notice

TEN jobs at the former Forth and Foyle engineering firm in Larne have been saved but eight people working in the firm’s Londonderry have been issued notice letters.

The firm Forth and Foyle ceased trading by the end of the month with the loss of eight jobs in the city.

A further 14 jobs are to go in Larne and Scotland.

But Investment Minster Arlene Foster said the 10 people working in Larne will continue work with the Shaw Group Inc. who have been awarded the service contract at Ballylumford Power Station formerly held by Forth and Foyle.

Mrs Foster stated: “The company has advised Invest NI that the 10 jobs at Ballylumford Power Station have been secured, with employees taking up positions with the Shaw Group Inc. who have been awarded the service contract.

“Unfortunately the company has also advised that the outstanding employees, eight of which are based at the company’s Londonderry office and four in the company’s Scottish office, have been issued notice letters.

“Invest NI has offered an advisory service to those employees affected and awaits the company reply.”
