Ten year celebrations at Coleraine Sure Start

COLERAINE Sure Start Partnership are delighted to be celebrating 10 years of providing their services in the area.

Last week staff from all the organisations that represent Sure Start hosted a wonderful family fun event in Coleraine Leisure Centre.

The Family fun Day was open to all who lived within the Sure Start area or who have participated in Sure Start during its first ten years. It had a ‘fun fair’ theme and children and adults alike enjoyed the various stalls of hoopla, tin can alley, target practice, not forgetting clowns, craft and party bags for all.

Elaine Donnelly, Coleraine Sure Start’s Programme Manager commented: “We were delighted to welcome over 200 people through the doors on Saturday morning – from new born babies to grandparents, it was a real celebration of the support that we collectively provide to families in the local area. I would like to thank the staff who deliver Sure Start services across the wards and housing estates that we work in – not just for dressing up as clowns on Saturday, but for the commitment and enthusiasm which they have for the work they do on a daily basis.

“We are a partnership organisation with staff employed by a range of employers such as Harpur’s Hill Children and Family Centre, Ballysally Youth and Community Centre, Causeway Women’s Aid, Focus on Family, West Bann Development Centre and the Northern Trust, and I thank each of those organisations, and those based in Sure Start, for their passion for hard work. As families, we are all finding times tough and it was great this week to take some time out, celebrate and just have some fun.”
