Ten-year-old boy critical after fall from school roof

A TEN-year-old has been left in a critical condition in hospital after falling off a school roof in Twinbrook.

Tiernan Hardy Smith had been with friends on top of St Colm’s High School when he fell on Tuesday evening at around 5pm. The boy was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the Royal in Belfast with a fractured skull. .

His friend ran for help. The young boy apparently got up and said that he was hurt and then collapsed.

He was taken to the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children. Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident to come forward.

Sinn Fein councillor, Charlene O’Hara, appealed to young people to be careful.

“I think now that it’s summer holidays there are a lot of young people out on the streets - a lot of young people out playing and you don’t imagine that this could happen,” she said.
