Terminally ill David passes away two months after wedding

David Smith (34), who had a brain tumour, died on Saturday with his family at his bedside.

He and wife Katy had tied the knot in Katy’s home town in England in what David described as his “best day ever”.

The couple were helped by the charity, Gift of a Wedding, which made sure they had a day to treasure.

According to David’s wishes, donations in lieu of flowers were donated to the charity.

Following a funeral service in Joseph Poots & Sons on Monday, David was interred in Kernan Cemetery.

Katy has thanked all their family and friends for their support over the course of David’s illness and in particular in his final months.
