The shop-front began to take shape this week in an obvious sign of progress, dispelling any lingering fears that delays in opening were due to anything other than the minor hitch reported earlier this year.

Manager, John Torbitt, said this week he was delighted be at the helm of the new Tesco Express store and insisted creating a sense of community would be a key focus for him and his team.

“We are interested in hearing what our customers think,” he said, “and hope to become an important part of the local community in Lisburn, for example by supporting local schools and charity initiatives.”

Hailed a convenient one-stop-shop for customers throughout the day, the new, purpose-built store will open from 7am-9pm seven days a week.

It will offer a range of fresh food, groceries, in-store baked goods and a self-service checkout facility.

As well as a selection of fresh fruit and vegetables and ambient (food that can be stored at room temperature) groceries, the store will feature a coffee machine, mobile top-up service and in-store lottery counter.

A ‘Click and Collect’ service will be available too, whereby shoppers can place their orders online and arrange to collect their it at their convenience.

“This is the first Tesco Express store in Lisburn,” said Mr Torbit.

“We want to make it the best possible shopping experience for our customers.

“We have a fantastic selection of food, including many locally produced lines, and a range of services aimed at making our customers’ lives as easy and convenient as possible.”
