From August 12-14 the nationwide ‘Rio de Tesco’ fundraiser will see Tesco’s 300,000 staff raising money for Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation.

Staff at Tesco Bridgewater Banbridge Extra will raise funds during the Rio de Tesco weekend when they will don carnival dress to dance and undertake other challenges.

A spokesperson said: “For the kids we will have face painting, a craft table, candyfloss, popcorn and Ice-cream van.

“Store colleagues and customers in Northern Ireland have contributed £324,000 to the total, thanks to their fundraising activities and generosity of Tesco’s customers.

“Through the Partnership, Tesco is working with Diabetes UK and the BHF to tackle two of the UK’s biggest health issues – Type 2 diabetes and heart and circulatory disease.
