Tesco customers urged to donate food to help people in need at weekend

Customers at Tesco Craigavon will be urged to donate food to help people in need this Friday and Saturday as the retailer gears up to hold the biggest ever food collection in the UK.

Tesco will be joined by Foodbanks charity the Trussell Trust and food redistribution charity FareShare for the collection.

Customers will be given a special selected shopping list when they enter the store and will be asked to pick up an item of food such as long-life milk, cereal, tinned foods and tea and coffee before donating it at the end of their shop.

The food will then be distributed to the local food bank before being given to people in times of crisis.

Tony O’Neil store manager is hoping for a big total.
