'˜Thank you so, so much' - Mum's words to hero at funeral

An emotional and brave Louise James has spoken at the funeral of her two sons, husband, sister and mother to thank the many people who assisted the family following the tragic events on Sunday night in Buncrana.

The Derry woman told Davitt Walsh that she would be forever grateful for his actions in saving her four month old baby Rioghnach with whom he was reunited during the week.

“Thank you so, so much,” she said.

“Without fear for his own life and safety you entered the Lough Swilly to save my Rioghnach and I will be forever grateful.”

She also thanked Francis Crawford and his wife for alerting the emergency services and his efforts in reassuring her boy’s father Sean that help was on its way.

“We would also like to extend our thanks to the emergency services, the coastguard, the RLNI, the Fire Service, the medical service and the Garda.”

The Derry mum who read a poem was given a round of applause by the hundreds who attended today’s funeral litury.
