Thanks after foodbank collection

Tesco customers have been thanked for their ‘overwhelming generosity’ as they supported the Foodbank collection which took place in the local store between last Thursday and Saturday.

Ulster Unionist MLA Jo-Anne Dobson said: “This is the sixth year that Tesco have carried out Foodbank collections and in the time I spent with the volunteers their trolleys were constantly filling up with donated food items.

“Massive thanks is due to the sheer generosity of local people who were out and about doing their shopping and were prepared to help others.

“Tesco will now work with the charities Trussell Trust and FareShare to ensure that the food gets to the people who need it the most. Donations will provide three days of emergency food to people who have been referred to the charities by frontline professionals including the Citizen’s Advice Bureau.

“Don’t worry if you missed out Tesco always have a collection point in store all year round to enable people to make a donation of food to help those in need – just ask at the Customer Service Desk and they can help you.

“I pay tribute to all the volunteers who joined staff across our local stores to help with their amazing effort.”
