In the lead up to Christmas with everyone so busy preparing for the festive season, it is easy to forget that opportunistic criminals are also keeping an eye out for the perfect present.

PSNI Crime Prevention Officer for Banbridge and Craigavon, Michelle Wilson, is advising householders not to make it easy for thieves this Christmas or they could find that criminals will be thanking them for making their Christmas especially lucrative…..

On the first day of Christmas the thief said to me Thanks for leaving the door unlocked for me……..

On the second day of Christmas the thief said to me Thanks for the presents under the tree……..

On the third day of Christmas the thief said to me Thanks not asking me for ID……

On the fourth day of Christmas the thief said to me Thanks for withdrawing all that cash for me……..

On the fifth day of Christmas the thief said to me Thanks for leaving the presents in the car for me ………

On the sixth day of Christmas the thief said to me Thanks for leaving the car engine running for me………

On the seventh day of Christmas the thief said to me Thanks for walking home alone and making it easy for me………

On the eighth day of Christmas the thief said to me I’ll visit you on Sunday at three……

On the ninth day of Christmas the thief said to me Thanks for leaving the house in darkness for me…….

On the eleventh day of Christmas the thief said to me Thanks for not property marking the new TV…….

On the twelfth day of Christmas the thief said to me Thanks for making 2012 a perfect Christmas for me!

Criminals are well aware that houses will be laden with presents and electrical goods at this time of the year so it is important to keep these items well out of sight and properly concealed.

Don’t make life too easy for criminals. Leaving doors and windows open and leaving gifts and other valuables in our cars is too great a temptation for these despicable people to resist. Always be mindful of your security and take appropriate crime prevention measures.
