The Big Lottery Fund hands out £20,000 to Lisburn groups

THREE groups around Lisburn are sharing over £20,000 in a grants windfall from the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All programme.

The small grants programme is awarding £21,650 to as part of a grants roll-out of £617,767 to 76 groups across Northern Ireland.

Improvements

Aghalee Village Hall, which runs a number of activities and events in their premises, is to receive £9,030 to refurbish the kitchen and committee areas in their community hall.

The improvements will mean they can make the venue more comfortable for current members and encourage more people in the community to come along and get involved.

St Joseph’s Parent Teacher Association has been awarded £9,980 to buy a log cabin where they are going to run a range of activities and workshops for pupils.

And Kilcorig Ulster Scots Society, which promotes Ulster Scots culture and encourages people to learn more about it, has been awarded a grant of £2,640 to install a new kitchen in their community hall.

Awards for All offers community, voluntary and statutory groups the chance to apply for small grants of between £500 and £10,000 that will have a big impact on local communities and the lives of people most in need.
