The countdown is on to the Rathfriland run

With just over a week to go to the Rathfriland Regeneration 10k and fun run/walk, organisers are hoping for a great turn out.

The event is taking place along the same route as last year on Wednesday August 13 at 7pm.

Rathfriland based fitness centre Well Fit is this year starting the event in style - getting everyone warmed up and ready to tackle the course.

Regen Chairman Mr Pat Rafferty said: “We tweaked last year’s event slightly in that we brought it forward a month and changed to a mid week evening. This is to suit a number of footballers and other sports people who were unable to take part last year.

“The walk/run is about raising money, but equally important it’s about building community spirit and promoting health and well being also.”

He added: “Tragically Rathfriland has had its fair share of tragedies and I know that PIPS support has been invaluable to many local families. We just want to do something to help the organisation.

“We want to see hundreds take to the roads and run or walk for a very worthy cause. All abilities are welcome, and it would be great to see lots of families take part in the walk. I would also encourage spectators to line the route and cheer on those taking part.”
