Out of sight of the city it is a hive of industry, with lorries toing and frowing incessantly as huge bulk carrier ships are unloaded. Everything from coal to grain passes through the port on a daily basis.

A recent visitor to the dock was The Resounder - a huge bulk carrier with a gross tonnage of 25136 and a dead weight tonnage of 45724 (724 tons). Built by Tsuneishi Shipbuilding at Fukuyama in Japan in 2000, The Resounder was formerly known as the Sea Banian until February 2012. Her home port is Monrovia, and at the time of this video being loaded on the Londonderry Sentinel website she was off the south coast of Finland.

The Resounder is now registered in Liberia and is 186m long, 30m wide at the beam and is 16.5m high.

She has five holds, one of which can be seen being unloaded by a huge crane at the dockland.
