The Risk pays off

THOUSANDS of music fans from across the Borough and beyond flocked to Lurgan town centre at the weekend to see X-Factor stars ‘The Risk’ and a host of brilliant local bands taking to the stage for the first ever ‘Lurgan Spectacular’ event.

Festivities kicked off throughout the afternoon with local bands Let’s go Retro, Outside the Box, Smooth and Last Minute Earl well and truly entertaining the crowd with their fantastic sounds and brilliant beats.

‘The Risk’ thrilled the crowds with their high energy performance followed by the ever popular ‘Flash Harry’ who finished off the night in Style!

Attending the event was Mayor of Craigavon Councillor Alan Carson, who commented: “The event was a brilliant success with thousands of people descending on Lurgan and enjoying what this great town has to offer. The music and atmosphere was fantastic and a great start to the Christmas season.”

‘The Risk’ also took time out of their tour to visit and meet the children, parents and teachers from Ceara School before they took to the stage, performing a few Christmas tunes to get everyone in the festive mood.

Lurgan Re:Store Committee member Stephen Greene, who worked closely with Craigavon Borough Council, on the event commented: “We’re delighted to host this spectacular event in Lurgan - It provided a great opportunity for people to see some superb musical acts and take in some Christmas cheer.”

Lurgan Spectacular is a Lurgan Re:Store initiative, led by a group of local business people, funded by the Department for Social Development and facilitated by Craigavon Borough Council which aims to revitalise the retail heart of Lurgan through a range of marketing initiatives.
