The shortest day has come and gone

Lord grant us through the coming year

A willingness to uplift and bless,

Help us weigh up our daily blessings

And in some way try to express.

Always a spirit that’s tactful and ready

To consider another’s point of view,

As we seek to lighten another’s load

We’re blessed with strength and courage too.

Let’s brighten up this dark old world

Despite the storms and skies of grey,

The shortest day has come and gone

And Spring is on its way.

Endurance unlocks the door to achievement

Lean on your true and unchanging friend,

And you’ll find life’s scars grow fainter

Sorrows fade and hopes ascend.
