The Sooty Olive serves up'˜the best meal in Europe'

The chef and proprietors were thrilled at the appreciative note the pair left after dining in the popular eatery.

“An amazing little msg left behind by some customers this evening #chuffed,” they tweeted, alongside a copy of the gushing note of thanks.

It read: “Dear chef, We have suffered through eight weeks of horrendously disfigured steak.

“Your postcript recommendation of not ruining a steak by over cooking it gave us hope.”

And the hope wasn’t misplaced, according to the couple.

“The steak cut, cook and presentation was even better than hoped for. The calamari, the salad, everything was spot on,” they wrote.

“So from two ‘good’ steak loving Aussies, thanks for the best meal we’ve had in Europe.”

The Waterside restaurant, which has won many fans over the last number of years operating from its Spencer Road premises, is a champion of local produce and the recipient of a McKenna Award.
