The two Melissas are top Cadets

Antrim teenagers Melissa Gibson (pictured left) and Melissa Richards have received recognition for star performances within the Cadet movement.

Mrs Joan Christie OBE DL, Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for the County of Antrim, presented Melissa Gibson (pictured left) with the coveted certificate which formally marks the attainment of 4 star Cadet status, while Melissa Richards collected a certificate to mark the successful completion of the BTEC in Public Services plus a special Detachment Award to recognise progress.

Congratulating the girls, Colonel David Kane paid tribute to their energy as well as their achievements.

He said: “Our two Melissas have shown outstanding commitment to the Cadet movement and we are delighted to reward their enthusiasm and hard work.

“The great track records which they are establishing within the Cadets will, I know, give them added confidence and stand them in good stead as they apply for university then start to ascend the career ladder.”
