The Wallace collection

PUPILS and staff at Wallace High School will be taking a particularly keen interest in this week’s election results.

For no fewer than four ex-pupils and a former Vice Principal are running for office.

Mark Hill from the UUP is running for the council and a seat in the Assembly. Aisling Twomey from the SDLP, along with Aaron McIntyre and Stephen Martin from the Alliance Party are running for Lisburn City Council and Brian Bloomfield, the recently retired Vice Principal, is also running for a local city council seat in North Lisburn for the UUP.

Mark, Aisling and Aaron went into Wallace on Tuesday to talk to pupils about the elections and careers in politics.

Each has been involved in local politics for a number of years and showed a wide depth of knowledge and political expertise for people so young.

What followed was a lively and enjoyable debate. The school wished all its former pupils and staff the best of luck.
