Theatrical tributes a resounding success

In 2014, the three men each lost a parent to cancer - Alan McClarty’s father, David; Darren Gardiner’s father, Desi and Richard Mairs’s mother Emily each passed away within six weeks of each other.

The three men who have a background in local amateur theatre set about producing their own plays in order to make money for Action Cancer.

Following the success of A Night in November in 2014 and then Stones in his Pockets in 2015, the boys produced Of Mice and Men this past summer.

The three plays have now raised in excess of £10,000.

Angela Chambers, chairperson of the local branch of Action Cancer, is understandably delighted with the money raised.

She said: “What the boys have done has been a fitting tribute to what I’m sure I would’ve been three proud parents.”
