Theft of volunteer's bicycle during an event at Cookstown Hub sparks anger

Hundreds have taken to social media urging the person who stole a volunteer's bicycle from outside Cookstown's Hub, to return it.

It is understood the bike, which was parked outside the community centre, was stolen while its owner was volunteering at the traditional music night on Saturday.

Hub manager, Carol Doey posted a message to the thief on the groups Facebook page.

“I feel disappointed tonight leaving the Traditional night at the Hub... as usual we had a great night, great musicians, food and craic.

“All volunteers give their time to work from 8-1am and our volunteer James rides his bicycle from Drum Rd to work.

“He left it outside the Hub tonight (Saturday, March 5) and it was taken.

“I would love the person/persons who took the bicycle to leave it back... If not, remember karma!!!

“And also if you don’t, may your next s**t be a hedgehog!!!!”

The post has been shared by hundreds online, with others saying they “hope whoever took it wakes up this morning feeling very ashamed and does the right thing”.

Another commentator simply added: “And your toilet roll be glass.”
