Thefts from cars in Portrush and Portstewart

Causeway Coast and Glens police are investigating two thefts from cars in Portrush and Portstewart yesterday.

Inspector Donna Bowden said: “A car was broken in as it was parked up in the Atlantic Bay area of Portstewart between the night of Thursday 08 October and early hours of Friday 09 October.

“A second incident happened on West Strand Road Portrush after a car was broken into yesterday evening (Thursday 08 October) when the owner was surfing.

“In both instances some cash was taken. A camera and some photography equipment was taken from the car in Portrush.

“We are investigating the thefts at present, but there is no early indication that they are linked. I would ask for anyone who saw any suspicious activity around cars in the areas last night to contact us on the non-emergency number 101. I would also ask that drivers remove wallets, cash and any valuables from inside parked cars. Or, lock valuables out of view in the boot of the car.”
