Thief to police:'I should get more 'broo' money'

A BALLYMENA woman arrested for shoplifting told police she should get more 'broo' money to live on, the local Magistrates Court was told.

The comment was made by Diana Michelle Ward (24), of Dunclug Park, after she had been caught stealing more than 300 worth of female and children’s clothing from local shops.

She appeared alongside her sister Shauna Louise Bridget Ward (19), of Dunclug Gardens, who also admitted a litany of shoplifting offences on various dates.

Deferring sentence on the pair until March of next year, District Judge Des Perry told them: “Stay out of trouble and I will treat you leniently, but if you get into trouble you are straight off (to prison).

“You are looking realistically at terms of around 12-15 months,” the judge added.
