Thieves net valuable fish

A SPATE of carp thefts in the Waringstown area has netted thieves thousands of pounds worth of fish.

Carp can cost more than £400 each and 25 of various colours plus a sturgeon were taken from the garden pond in the Valley Lane area of Waringstown sometime between Monday, September 26 and Friday, September 30.

It has also emerged 12 carp were stolen from a pond on Banbridge Road, Waringstown.

Sometime between 4.30pm on Monday, 3 September and 7am on Tuesday, 4 September, 12 Carp fish were stolen.

Police are warning fish owners to be vigilant. Anyone with information on the thefts is asked to contact them on 0845 600 8000.
