Third time lucky for KFC in Cookstown?

The restaurant is proposed for the former site of Rodney Cole car dealership on Killymoon Street.

Speaking at the monthly meeting of Cookstown District Council on Tuesday night, a representative from the Planning Office said: “We have received new information on Friday past and the application has been amended.”

When questioned by Councillors Trevor Wilson and James McGarvey over what new information the applicants had provided, the planning official said: “They have submitted a proposal for a new completely covered drive-thru. The previous application included only a partially covered drive-thru, but this new information seeks to establish a new completely covered area for drive-thru.”

He added that they would consult with environmental health on the issue and that information suggested the new drive-thru would be ‘completely sound-proof’.

Cllr Wilson said that residents who would be living adjacent to this proposed new restaurant have been ‘tormented’ with these plans.

Robert, aged 55, has severe learning disabilities and lives with his mother, 79-year-old Jean at Killymoon Street. Speaking at the time, Jean told the MAIL her main concerns with the application were around noise, litter and anti-social behaviour.

No-one from agents Coogan and Co. Architects who lodged the application were available for comment at time of going to press.
