A prosecutor said police were on public order duty in The Diamond area of Ballycastle and Shivers approached the vehicle and said: "This is my bus home".

She said the defendant was heavily intoxicated and left but returned and shouted "black b-----ds" and tried to open the door and hit the windows.

He told officers: "F--k off I can do what I want" and continued to swear in front of people in the area.

He was arrested and calmed down after a period and was offered a caution but failed to take it.

District Judge Richard Wilson said it was stupid not to have accepted the caution.
