Thompson welcomes playpark moves

GLENS Sinn Fein councillor Colum Thompson has welcomed Moyle District Council’s decision to install new soft surfacing in all council owned play parks in Moyle.

The surface replacement programme will be completed over the next three years with the parks at Middlepark in Cushendall, Quay Road in Ballycastle, Bushmills Community Centre and Ballintoy being the first parks to benefit from the scheme which will begin in the near future.

Councillor Thompson said: “This is an excellent project and it is something which is really needed. The old bark surfacing was unhygienic and unsightly and it had gotten into such a bad state that it was putting people off letting their children use the play areas. This replacement scheme is something that myself and my party colleagues have really pushed for and we are delighted that this programme will be rolled out right across The Glens and the entire Moyle area.

“This type of scheme, yet again, demonstrates Moyle District Council’s commitment to providing high quality facilities for our children and young people and I would like to thanks all the Council staff who have been involved in bringing the project to this stage.”
