Three arrested after shoplifting drama in Portadown

Three people have been arrested after a shoplifting incident in Portadown. the PSNI has said.

A male shoplifter was spotted leaving a store in Portadown at around 11.30am yesterday (Monday) with stolen goods.

Police said he got into a nearby car with accomplices.

“In their haste to leave, they nearly knocked down perusing staff members and then collided with another car and fled the scene,” said the PSNI.

“Luckily the staff were able to give police the registration number of the car.”

Police said a few hours later at around 5pm ‘an eagle eyed police crew in Rostrevor spot the car’.

“The car was stopped and searched with a significant quantity of goods believed to be stolen located inside,” said the PSNI.

The three occupants of the car were arrested for numerous offences and are all now in custody and the car in police possession.

The car involved in this incident was a gold coloured English registration Audi A4.

Police asked that if anyone has seen any suspicious activity involving a vehicle matching this description to contact them on 101.
