Three Ballinderry players banned and pitch closed after county final debacle

Ballinderry players Aaron Devlin, Michael Conlon and Gareth McKinless have been suspended for a year following the disturbances at the recent Derry county football final, the BBC has reported.

The disturbances broke out after Slaughtneil’s last-gasp goal to win the match.

In addition to the trio being banned for 12 months, Ballinderry’s pitch will be closed to adult games for a year.

The BBC report states that Collie Devlin and James Conway have received one-match championship bans.

“Derry’s GAA disciplinary authorities are also understood to have handed bans to several supporters arising from the post-match disturbances at Celtic Park.,” the report reads.

Ballinderry will have the right to appeal all the suspensions and the pitch closure.
