Three convicted of benefit fraud

THREE people were convicted at North Antrim Magistrates’ Court last Friday for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.

Adrian Doherty (49) of Richmond Drive, Coleraine claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £5,491 while failing to declare employment. He was fined £250 and ordered to pay court costs of £58.

Stroma Artingstall (26) of Churchlands Road, Coleraine claimed Income and Housing Benefit totalling £3,935 while failing to declare employment. She was fined £225 and ordered to pay court costs of £37.

Joan Kane (39) of Drumawilliam Park, Ballyvoy was fined £300 and ordered to pay court costs of £22 for wrongful encashment of Jobseekers Allowance and Social Fund totalling £364.

All are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
