Three farmers took their own lives

THREE farmers killed themselves in Londonderry over the past decade.

UUP MLA David McNarry asked Finance Minister Sammy Wilson for details of the number of farmers who died by suicide in the last ten years.

He revealed that since 2000 three farmers took their own lives in Londonderry; one was aged between 15 and 34; another between 35 and 44; and the third was aged over 65.

Mr Wilson said the figures referred to the number of deaths registered as "suicide and self-inflicted injury" and "undetermined injury whether accidentally or purposefully inflicted."
