Explaining how the green token scheme works, ASDA Larne’s Community Life Champion Catherine McCallion revealed: “Customers nominate local charities online or in store at the community board. Customers get the tokens while shopping and they put it into the container of the charity they would like to support. The scheme runs for two months and the winner gets £200 while the two runners up get £50.”

No community organisation can be nominated more than once in a year, meaning that several local groups benefit from the initiative.

Christine continued: “It’s about supporting local charities, many of whom are run on a month-to-month basis. Our customers have voted for these charities, and I would like to congratulate these three very deserving organisations. I hope the donations help them to continue their great work in the community.”
