Correia Mendes Agostinho, Bluestone Hall, Knockmenagh, Craigavon, was also fined £250 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy for not having insurance on August 7 last year.

The court heard he was detected travelling at 37mph in 30mph zone at Kernan Road, Portadown.

He was asked for his insurance and produced a certificate but it did not cover him for the vehicle he was driving when he was stopped.

A solicitor for the defendant said he regretted finding himself in this situation but it had now been explained to him that he must apply for a provisional licence and re-sit his test.
