Three motorbikes are stolen in Moira

The PSNI in Lisburn are making a direct appeal to the motorcycling community, for their help in finding the thieves after the new and unregistered motorcycles were taken.

The bikes are described as being two Kawasaki ER6F and one Kawasaki ER6N, which were taken from Philip McCallen Motorcycles at Portman Business Park off the Lissue Road, sometime late on Friday April 10 or early on Saturday April 11.

Police say that thieves cut bolts on a container and removed the bikes and put them into a van before making off.

The bikes did not have keys, batteries or fuel, therefore could not be started or ridden.

Chief Inspector John Wilson said: “Firstly I would appeal to anyone who was in the Lissue area of Moira, near Portman business Park, and saw a van entering or leaving the premises outside normal business hours, to get in touch with detectives from CID on the non-emergency number 101.

“Or if someone would like to pass information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Secondly I would appeal to anyone who deals in motorcycle parts or who is perhaps looking for motorcycle parts for this type of bike.

“As the vehicles that were stolen were immobile, it is worth considering that they could be stripped of their parts which could then be sold off.

“Please be wary of anyone attempting to sell you parts for a brand new Kawasaki like those stolen at the weekend and call the police if you are aware of anyone trying to do so.”
