Three Spires Scouts in Magherafelt celebrate 50th anniversary

The 94-year-old founder of Three Spires Scout Group recently joined its 78 young members and scout leaders to celebrate the group's fiftieth anniversary.

Charlie McIntyre was described as ‘an inspirational man to all the young people’ who have followed in his footsteps through the Magherafelt-based scouts.

Since starting five decades ago, the group has helped dozens of young people reach their full potential through new adventures, experiencing the outdoors and making new friends.

She said: “It’s a great pleasure to join you tonight and see the great work that is happening with the young people in the Magherafelt area.

“I want to congratulate you on a very successful 50 years and wish you and all the leaders every success in the coming year.”

All five sections of Three Spires Scouts were represented at the February event. Ben, an explorer opened the evening, before welcoming Squirrel Drey to tell everyone their story.
