Three year ban for drink driving

Maria Haddock, Drumnamoe Gardens, Portadown, was also fined £300 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy for failing to provide a specimen of breath.

She was given conditional discharges for 12 months for not having a licence and not having insurance.

The court heard that on May 9 this year at 3.30am police saw a vehicle swerve out into the middle of the road in Victoria Street.

When they spoke to the defendant who was the driver she completed a preliminary breath test which gave a reading of 114.

She was arrested and in the custody suite she failed to provide a specimen of breath.

Haddock had been banned for 18 months for a drink drive offence on November 1, 2013.

Since then she had not reapplied for her test so did not have a licence or insurance.

A solicitor representing Haddock said she had co-operated with police but just was not able to provide a sample of breath.

She added that the defendant had been drinking at home and foolishly decided to go to a friend’s house.

It was Haddock’s second drink drive offence with a ten year period.
