Thrillseekers needed for zipline challenge

Northern Ireland Hospice is calling for thrill-seekers to join them in a fun-filled and breath-taking challenge across the River Lagan on Saturday August 25.

The challenge will see participants drop from a height of 140 feet and zip and slide 1000 feet across the River Lagan, reaching exhilarating speeds of 40mph.

“I would encourage everyone to sign up and take part in this thrilling event and help raise much needed funds for the work of NI Hospice,” said current Miss Northern Ireland Tiffany Brien.

“Supporting the valuable work of Hospice is something I am extremely happy to be a part of and the zipline challenge is an excellent way for people to get involved and do something that little bit different this summer!”

Each year Northern Ireland Hospice cares for over 3000 adults, children and young people living with a life-limiting illness. The specialist care and support services are available both at Hospice and also in the patient’s own home and are a life-line to many families at such a difficult time.

“This event offers a popular and exciting challenge in the heart of Belfast and we would love individuals and teams to take that leap of faith and join us,” said NI Hospice fundraiser Karen Dunlop.

“This is the first time Hospice has held such a challenge and spaces will fill up fast. Karen continued, “Our services depend on the support and generosity of the local community. Every £100 raised through this event will help fund a series of complementary therapy sessions for a patient to alleviate pain and reduce stress.”
